Nueva Ecija occupies the eastern rim of the Central Luzon plains. The province consists of 27 municipalities and five cities with a total of 849 barangays. The terrain is comprised of low-lying alluvial plains and rolling uplands. It has a total land area of 5,638 square kilometers. Relying on agriculture as the main source of livelihood, Nueva Ecija is one of the top agricultural producers in the country. One of Nueva Ecija’s principal crops is rice that is why Nueva Ecija is often tagged as the “Rice Bowl of the Philippines.” Other crops include corn, and onion, monggo and vegetables.
