Nagkakaisang Magsasaka ng Gitnang Luzon
(United Farmers of Central Luzon)
Established in 2000, NMGL (Nagkakaisang Magsasaka ng Gitnang Luzon) is composed of farmers and peasant organizations of Central Luzon. It continuously strives to raise the members’ level of consciousness to advance agrarian reform, rural development and democracy.
MISSION: To achieve unity among all peasants in Central Luzon, raise their level of dignity and consciousness of their rights and empower them through collective learning and action.
GOAL: To unite all peasants in Central Luzon and to raise their level of consciousness, knowledge and skills so they can better assert their rights in society.
PDI and NMGL, through the Enhancing Community Resilience(ECR)Program, negotiated with the DAR for the release of some 4,196 hectares of land to 1,874 beneficiaries under CARP.
NMGL has mobilized resources from different line agencies for various livelihood and infrastructure projects that benefited peasants.
It has conducted mobilizations and rallies to push for agrarian reform and ancestral domain titling.
Together with PDI, it has conducted dialogues with LGUs to pass resolutions and local policies in support of farmers’ rights.
NMGL has re-echoed Leadership Trainings of the Barefoot Managers Course to PO leaders at the barangay level.
